I have to apologize in advance but I'm not that programmer-language savvy, so my apologies if you've already answered this question, but a lot of what's in the forums makes 0 sense to me!
I am a calc and pre-calc teacher and I am constantly writing my own exams. I travel a lot and am always coming up with ideas for problems or projects. Sometimes I would just make myself a note in the "notes" on my iPhone, but now that there is an app called "documents to go" (if you're not familiar, it's a program where you can create simple word and excel docs) I was thinking how cool it would be to be able to create or edit an exam right on my iPhone. So, I was looking for an app that would work like "equation editor" or "math type" that are available in word. This program is the closest I could find, and it can do all the things I need it to, except for when I copy and paste into either a note or a "doc to go" document, it doesn't look the way I want it to look. For example, if I want "x squared" it looks like this: x^2 which can be confusing for students. Is there a way to paste it and have it look like an x with a super-script 2? (a true "x-squared")
Also, I hate to ask this, but do you know of an app that was designed to do what I need? I'm thinking of something that would work like a second keyboard. So it would look basically the same as equation editor. Do you know of an app like that?
If you have the full version of Pi Cubed (not Pi Cubed Lite), you can go to the Settings application on your iPhone, scroll down to the Pi Cubed group of settings, select that, then select "Copy equations as" and choose "Image". This will switch the default copy-and-paste behavior from copying the equation as a text representation to copying an image of the equation. You should then be able to copy the equation and paste it as an image in any application that supports pasting images, like Mail. I can't say if Documents To Go supports pasting images, but you can try.
To my knowledge, my application is the only one that does this kind of equation typesetting on the iPhone, although it's been a while since I last checked. There is no custom keyboard for doing this, because you need to have a means of typesetting equations within the applications themselves. I think the closest you're going to get is the image or PDF export from this application.
