selecting problem

how would i select the 3x^2+2x out of 3x^2+2x+8=?
is this possible to do. I would like to be able to do this in order to insert selections like this into parentheses and deal with them together. i hope that this can be accomplished but no amount of tapping has gotten me anywhere thus far.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this. The whole addition operation is considered one unit, and I can't think of an easy way to select sub-components of it. It looks like you'll need to remove the +8 portion, select the remaining addition operation, wrap that in another addition operation, and then enter in 8 for the remaining blank number.
