This is great! I have a photographer who wants me to do her a site and being able to use Drupal with her preferred editing software will be great.
pubDate Thu, 08 Jan 2009 21:45:44 +0000 dc:creator Mike Mills guid false comment 146 at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com My site runs on drupal as http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/2008/06/21/architecture-site#comment-105
My site runs on drupal as well, before it was on wordpress. i have some bigger plans, but right now it's basically a simple blog and wiki. i played a bit with the wiki tools module and taxonomy redirect. still have some redirection loop issues. if you wanna have a look.

http://www.lopsta.com

feel free to leave a comment anywhere (although it's german:)
pubDate Mon, 01 Dec 2008 16:17:33 +0000 dc:creator Jan guid false comment 105 at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com Thanks for stopping by. I'm still learning, so I'll give the modules you suggest a try.

Since this post, I've found that by tweaking my MediaTemple GridContainer settings I am able to get much better performance. I've yet to figure out which setting it was that sped things up, but something about their default configuration just does not hack with Drupal on a low-volume site like this one. However, volume may pick up with the activation of the iTunes App Store and we'll see if my new settings scale.
pubDate Thu, 10 Jul 2008 18:51:30 +0000 dc:creator Brad Larson guid false comment 13 at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com One more thing: take a look http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/2008/06/21/architecture-site#comment-12
One more thing: take a look at the Bibliography module for your papers and patents. Also, GlobalRedirect is very useful, it redirects users in case they get to an "ugly" URL for which a nice URL exists.
pubDate Thu, 10 Jul 2008 18:34:29 +0000 dc:creator EagerEyes guid false comment 12 at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com Ah, a fellow Drupal user! I http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/2008/06/21/architecture-site#comment-11
Ah, a fellow Drupal user! I just thought I'd share some things I've found working with Drupal (on my website EagerEyes.org) and with mediatemple.

I liked (mt) at first, but their speed dropped dramatically in the six months or so I was there. There were lots of outages, and I had to use a file-based cache (Boost module) to make the site usable. So I switched to a VPS provider, in my case Slicehost (I'm not affiliated in any way). You have to set up everything from scratch, but they have good documentation, and for $20/month you get a very fast virtual server with 256MB of RAM (which doesn't sound like much, but is plenty for a web server). The speed difference alone is worth it, plus of course you can do whatever you want on your own machine, no more restrictions about what you can install (I use JungleDisk for backups, for example), how many databases you set up, etc.!

As far as your list of modules goes, take a look at IMCE. I find it a lot more useful and flexible than Image, and for 6.x there's also now an IMCE CCK field. It works great with tinyMCE and other editor modules. Also, for CAPTCHA, I really like reCAPTCHA. It's a plugin for the regular CAPTCHA module, and it uses scanned words from books to do CAPTCHA and "manual OCR" at the same time - very clever. There's more, but I'm running out of steam. Maybe later ;)
pubDate Thu, 10 Jul 2008 18:16:06 +0000 dc:creator EagerEyes guid false comment 11 at http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com
